Jennifer Liewer currently serves as the Chief Communications Officer for the Arizona Supreme Court. She has been in this position since December of 2009 and provides communication and legislative support to the state's judicial branch. Among her duties, Jennifer acts as an agency spokesperson, coordinates outreach efforts for court initiatives, advises court leadership on communication issues, manages special events, develops messaging and content for the court’s web site, provides media training for court staff around the state, and assists the Justices and court executives with presentations and speech writing.
Jennifer began her career with the American Red Cross. During her tenure there, she was responsible for the day to day responsibilities of marketing the chapter and its ability to prepare, prevent, and respond to emergencies. She was a first responder for many local and national Red Cross Disasters, including the events of 9/11. Jennifer was part of the national/international Red Cross contingency that was at the World Trade Center disaster scene within the first few days after the attack.
Jennifer has also worked for the city of Phoenix Neighborhood Services Department, where she was responsible for media relations and community outreach for the Neighborhood Services Department.
She then spent five years with the city of Glendale, where she managed overall public relations efforts for the city; including media outreach, collateral development, event management, public messaging and staff media training. She was responsible for the management of city outreach efforts related to its sports and entertainment district, including coordination of the Glendale Super Bowl Media Center, which housed hundreds of national and international journalists, and oversaw city media efforts for the Fiesta Bowl, the BCS National Championship, and the development of training facilities for several major league baseball teams. Before leaving to work for the court, she was the point person for the media on the bankruptcy proceedings involving the highly contested sale of the Phoenix Coyotes.
Jennifer currently sits on the American Red Cross, Grand Canyon Chapter Board of Directors and is a public affairs volunteer for the organization. She graduated from Arizona State University with a Communication Studies Degree.
