Unless sealed or otherwise restricted, documents filed in the Court of Appeals are public record and available for viewing and/or copying upon request. Records received from the lower courts that have been sealed by that court will remain sealed in the Court of Appeals. Requests to view Court of Appeals files can be made in person at the Clerk’s Office. No file or filed documents may be removed from the Clerk’s Office by a member of the public; all viewing must be done in the Clerk’s Office viewing room.
Counsel and self-represented parties who have filed electronically through AZTurboCourt may view any document filed in that case online through AZTurboCourt. (There may be a delay in accessing a document that has been filed in paper form; these documents may not be available for online viewing for two to three days).
Copy Requests can be requested in person or via phone. Please note that State law requires the Court of Appeals to collect a copy fee of $.50 per page for copy requests. Note that the Certification Fee for any document, if requested, is an additional $17.00. Previously granted Applications for Deferral or Waiver of Court Fees and/or Costs do not waive or defer any copy fees; such fees are due and payable before any requested copies are collected. Copies are not made until full payment is received in the form of cash, check or money order.
If you wish to make a copy request over the phone, please contact the Clerk’s Office at (602) 452-6700. A Deputy Clerk in this office will be able to supply you with a page count for your request, which you can then use to complete the attached Copy Request Form. The attached form is fillable on your computer; entering in the page count(s) and request for certification will automatically populate and total the final cost due. This form must be completed, printed, and mailed to the Court with your payment and a self-addressed stamped envelope. Copy requests received via the mail are generally completed and returned within 5-7 business days. Please note that the Court of Appeals cannot make change, and can only accept payment in the exact amount due.
If you wish to make a copy request in person, please visit our Clerk’s Office during business hours (8-5, Monday through Friday). Copy requests of more than 10 pages are done at the discretion of the Clerk’s Office and may not be available for immediate collection after payment is received. Please note that the Court of Appeals cannot make change, and can only accept payment in the exact amount due.
