Child Support Calculator

The 2005 Child Support Calculator is an Interactive PDF (Portable Document Format) document that will calculate a child support amount based on the Arizona Child Support Guidelines that took effect January 1, 2005. The calculator is designed to function with Adobe Acrobat Reader version 6.0.1. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE Adobe Acrobat version 6.0.1 or higher, Adobe offers a free update to this software that you must download and install before using the child support calculator.

DISCLAIMER
The purpose of this calculator is informational and educational only and does not constitute legal advice.  The amount of child support a court will order for any particular case may be different from the amount estimated by the calculator.  The court has the final authority to determine the amount of child support awarded.  The amount stated by this calculator is only an estimate and is not a guarantee of the amount of child support that will be awarded.  Please see an attorney for more detailed information.

CHILD SUPPORT AND EQUAL CUSTODY
This calculator is intended primarily for cases in which one parent is the sole custodian of the child(ren), although it may be used for cases in which parents share custody of the child(ren).  To calculate support for cases in which the time the child(ren) spend with each parent is essentially equal, calculate support as directed below, then look on the "Parent's Worksheet for Child Support Amount" for the line titled "Child Support to be Paid By: Father or Mother".  Deduct the lower amount from the higher amount, then divide by two.  The resulting amount is paid to the parent with the lower obligation.  See Guidelines Section 12 for more information.

CALCULATE CHILD SUPPORT

  • Gross income of both parents
  • Child support for children of other relationships (court-ordered support)
  • Spousal maintenance paid or received
  • Medical/Dental/Vision insurance costs (for children only)
  • Childcare costs
  • Extra education expenses
  • Extraordinary child expenses
  • Number of children age 12 or over
  • Month and year of youngest child's birthday
  • Number of parenting time days per year
  • Court-ordered arrears paid by the noncustodial parent

STEP 2.  Click below on the "Calculate Support" button.  The Child Support Entry Form will open in Adobe Acrobat Reader.  Begin by clicking the appropriate button for the Custodial Parent, then press the Tab button on your keyboard to move through the form, or click on each line with your mouse.

STEP 3.  Enter the appropriate information on each blank.  Not every blank needs to be completed in every case.  If you are not sure whether you should complete a blank, click on the word next to the blank.  You will be directed to additional information along with a link to the appropriate section in the Arizona Child Support Guidelines.

STEP 4.  When you have competed the Entry Form, click the "Calculate Support" button to get an estimate of the amount of child support that the noncustodial parent may have to pay to the custodial parent for the support of their child(ren).

After clicking on "Calculate Support" the following forms will automatically be filled in with the information from the Entry Form:

  • Parent's Worksheet for Child Support Amount
  • Child Support Order
  • Order of Assignment

You may enter information that is appropriate to your case, directly onto the forms, such as the county where you will file the documents, names, dates of birth, social security numbers, etc.  Once you have completed the forms, you may print them and file them with the Arizona Superior Court.  The links below will take you to Superior Court websites in the counties who have such sites.  You will find information on filing the documents, such as how, where and costs.  The last link directs you to contact information for all Clerks of Superior Court in Arizona.  You may wish to call the Clerk of the Superior Court in your county to inquire about filing information.
