Justice Gould Investiture

On Friday, March 10, 2017 the Yuma County welcomed back Justice Andrew Gould and helped him celebrate his appointment to the Arizona Supreme Court. Justice Gould spent 11 years as a Judge of the Superior Court in Yuma County, where he served as both Associate Presiding Judge and Presiding Judge.

Although he began his legal career in Phoenix, Arizona, practicing in the field of civil litigation, he became a Deputy County Attorney, prosecuting major criminal cases for Yuma and Maricopa Counties starting in 1994.  He served as Chief Civil Deputy for the Yuma County Attorney’s Office from 1999-2001.

Justice Gould was among family, friends, colleagues, and local community members at his investiture where Chief Justice Scott Bales administered the oath.

Little known facts about Justice Gould were revealed, such as his participation in the Yuma Community Theater where he played Felix in the 2014 play The Odd Couple.

“Yuma is where I raised my family and is home to me.  The people of Yuma gave me a chance many years ago, and I will always be thankful for how they embraced me and my family.   It is, to me, the best community in Arizona,” expressed Justice Gould.

Justice Gould was appointed by Governor Doug Ducey, after the Arizona legislature voted and Ducey signed a bill expanding the court from five members to seven.  To learn more view Justice Gould's investiture at
