POSITION SUMMARY:
Do you have experience working in an appellate court and enjoy creating engaging learning solutions and delivering content to enhance retention, growth and development of fellow staff members? The Arizona Supreme Court Clerk’s Office is looking for an individual with strong communication and presentation skills, who is knowledgeable of adult learning techniques, has experience working in an appellate court, and has a passion for creating and delivering quality learning experiences.

The Deputy Clerk Specialist enhances and updates existing training materials and creates new learning content to ensure continuous improvement and accuracy of the content and delivers training for staff who process the cases filed in the court. The position is responsible for the successful onboarding of new staff and cross-training staff on the various positions within the office. Additionally, this position is responsible for processing appellate cases and court rules; providing customer service; preparing legal documents; and maintaining the court’s records and other court-related functions. The ideal candidate will utilize knowledge of appellate case processing and adult learning principles, and strong communication and presentation skills to proactively create programs to enhance the learning process for staff in the Supreme Court Clerk’s office. The Deputy Clerk Specialist reports to the Court Operations Manager.  

As the highest state court, the Supreme Court processes approximately 1,100 cases annually. The majority of the filings are received via eFiling and are processed using an automated case management system. The work is detailed and accuracy is critical.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and five years’ experience working in an appellate court clerk’s office or similar environment. Relevant experience may substitute for education. This position requires knowledge of adult learning principles; strong written and oral communication; strong time management and organizational skills; the ability to interpret legislation, rules, administrative orders, and policies and procedures; as well as demonstrated proficiency in customer service. In addition, this position requires the ability to problem-solve; to work effectively under pressure and tight deadlines; and the demonstrated ability to effectively use various office technology including web-based applications and MS Office products in performing work duties and to lift files and boxes weighing up to 35 pounds.
