Kathleen (Kathy) Schaben was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona. She holds a B.A. in Romance Languages from the University of Arizona, a Master of Administration from Northern Arizona University and is a Fellow of the National Center for State Courts’ Institute for Court Management. Kathy worked as a freelance interpreter for the federal, state and municipal Courts in Yuma, Arizona for 15 years before being hired in 2002 as Supervisory Interpreter for Superior Court in Yuma County. She currently serves the court in the position of Trial Court Administrator and oversees various court operations units including Human Resources, Court Interpreter and Translation Services, Caseflow, Conciliation Court, Court Reporting Services and the Law Library. She was the project manager for the Yuma Video Remote Interpreter Project.
Kathy is certified as a Spanish Interpreter by the AOUSC as well as the Judicial Council of California and NAJIT. She is the interpreter member of the Arizona Supreme Court Judicial Staff Education Committee and is currently serving as President Emeritus of the Arizona Court Interpreters Association (ACIA).
