A mental health court is a treatment court for participants experiencing a mental health condition. It provides frequent judicial oversight, uses a team-based approach regarding treatment and supervision, and is evidence-based in its application of treatment, supervision, incentives, and sanctions.

Standard 8A of the Arizona Mental Health Court Standards states: “Mental health courts should collaborate with one another to improve existing mental health court operations, and to offer advice and information to jurisdictions that may want to establish a new mental health court. Mental health courts should provide resources to one another, identify courts willing to serve as mentor courts, and assist in the identification of other practices to improve mental health court operations.”

This webpage will contribute to that goal by providing information from all mental health courts in Arizona, as well as national mental health court information that Arizona mental health courts, or future mental health courts, can utilize.
