Effective January 1, 2012, all Petitions for Review of Court of Appeals decisions are to be filed directly with the Clerk of the Arizona Supreme Court. See: ARCAP 23 and Rules of Criminal Procedure Rule 31.19.
Effective January 1, 2009, Rules 22 (c) and 23(c), Arizona Rules of Civil Appellate Procedure, and Rules 31.18(c) and 31.19(c), Arizona Rules of Criminal Procedure, have been amended to reduce the maximum length limitations for motions for reconsideration of decisions of the court of appeals and petitions for review by the supreme court, and to require the inclusion of certificates of compliance with new length requirements similar to those required for appellate briefs under ARCAP 14(b). Criminal case appeals and petitions for review of post-conviction relief decisions are governed by Rules 31 and 32 of the Arizona Rules of Criminal Procedure. Civil appeals are governed by the Arizona Rules of Civil Appellate Procedure. Special action proceedings are governed by the Arizona Rules of Procedure for Special Actions.
