  • In FY 2011, total case filings decreased by 3.6% from FY 2010.
     
  • Total case terminations decreased by .01% during the same period.
     
  • Civil case filings decreased 3.7% from 101,591 in FY 2010 to 97,844 in FY 2011.  In the same period, civil case terminations were up 2.4% from 100,390 to 102,782.
     
  • Criminal case filings decreased 5.0% from 53,271 in FY 2010 to 50,608 in FY 2011.  Criminal case terminations increased by 1.1% during the same period from 53,558 to 54,160.
     
  • Domestic relations cases decreased 1.8% from 50,388 in FY 2010 to 49,502 in FY 2011, and domestic relations case terminations increased 2.1% from 48,637 to 49,641.  Domestic violence petition filings increased 6.6% in Superior Court from 11,726 to 12,497 in FY 2011.
     
  • There were 220,313 total cases pending on July 1, 2010, compared with 212,382 cases pending on June 30, 2011, a decrease of 3.6%.
     
  • Juveniles with direct filings to adult court decreased 13.5%, from 393 in FY 2010 to 340 in FY 2011.  Juvenile cases transferred to adult court decreased 27.8%, from 36 in FY 2010 to 26 in FY 2011.  A total of 366 juvenile cases were either transferred or directly filed in adult court in FY 2011 compared to 429 in FY 2010, an decrease of 14.7%.
