POSITION SUMMARY:  
The Arizona Supreme Court Clerk’s Office is looking for an organized, motivated, team oriented individual with experience in appellate court case processing. As the highest state court, the Supreme Court has discretionary jurisdiction and processes approximately 1,100 cases annually. The Supreme Court Clerk’s office staff receives the majority of the filings via eFiling and completes case processing in an automated case management system. The work is detailed and accuracy is critical.

The Deputy Clerk Specialist prepares court agendas, works hand in hand with other office professionals on small to medium scale projects and develops automation training for justices and their staff, staff attorneys and clerks. This position is also responsible for processing appellate cases; assisting the court’s customers in person, by telephone and email; preparing legal documents; and maintaining the court’s records and other court-related functions. The Deputy Clerk Specialist reports to the Technical Services Coordinator. The ideal candidate will utilize appellate case processing knowledge; technical aptitude and initiative to proactively create automation training.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and two years experience working in an appellate court clerk’s office or similar environment. Relevant experience may substitute for education. This position requires the ability to effectively organize, manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously; the ability to interpret legislation, rules, administrative orders, and policies and procedures; as well as demonstrated proficiency in front-counter customer assistance skills, receiving documents, conducting financial transactions, and responding appropriately to questions. In addition, this position requires the ability to problem-solve; to work effectively under pressure and tight deadlines; ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; and the demonstrated ability to effectively use various office technology such as scanners, web-based applications, and MS Office Suite products in performing work duties and to lift files and boxes weighing up to 35 pounds.

Travel level: Negligible.
