The Arizona Child Support Guidelines are used to calculate the support amount and follow the Income Shares Model. The model was developed by the Child Support Guidelines Project of the National Center for State Courts. Both parents' incomes are used to calculate the amount of child support that one parent will pay to the other household to financially support the children. State and federal laws require states to review their child support guidelines every four years. Reviewing the guidelines involves a third-party expert to analyze the randomly selected case files and to update the schedule that is the backbone of the support calculator. The Supreme Court adopts the child support guidelines in Administrative Orders (AOs).
