  • In FY 2013, total case filings decreased by 5.4% from FY 2012.
     
  • Total case terminations decreased by 3.9% during the same period.
     
  • Civil case filings decreased 12.5% from 71,722 in FY 2012 to 62,770 in FY 2013.  During the same period, civil case terminations also decreased 14.3% from 76,008 to 65,148.
     
  • Criminal case filings decreased 6.7% from 52,159 in FY 2012 to 48,654 in FY 2013.  Criminal case terminations increased by 4.3% during the same period from 52,018 to 49,782.
     
  • Domestic relations cases increased 2.6% from 48,594 in FY 2012 to 49,860 in FY 2013, and domestic relations case terminations increased 5.3% from 47,733 to 50,259.  Domestic violence petition filings decreased 6.5% in Superior Court from 12,856 to 12,021 in FY 2013.
     
  • There were 208,894 total cases pending on July 1, 2012, compared with 205,011 cases pending on June 30, 2013, a decrease of 1.9%.
     
  • Juveniles with direct filings to adult court decreased 0.8%, from 259 in FY 2012 to 257 in FY 2013.  Juvenile cases transferred to adult court decreased 22.2%, from 18 in FY 2012 to 14 in FY 2013.  A total of 271 juvenile cases were either transferred or directly filed in adult court in FY 2013 compared to 277 in FY 2012, a decrease of 2.2%.
