Spousal Maintenance Guidelines
Calculating maintenance amounts.

The Legislature amended  A.R.S. § 25-319, concerning spousal maintenance orders, in Chapter 331, Laws 2022 (2nd Reg. Sess.), Section 11 (formerly S.B. 1383), effective September 24, 2022. The amendment to A.R.S. § 25-319(B) directed the Supreme Court to develop spousal maintenance guidelines for "only for a period of time and in an amount necessary to enable the receiving spouse to become self-sufficient."

The Spousal Maintenance Guidelines used in conjunction with the Spousal Maintenance Calculator produce amount and duration ranges that encourage and support a requesting spouse in becoming self-sufficient, achieve consistency and predictability in awards for person in similar circumstances, and provide guidance in establishing spousal maintenance awards and promote settlements.
