Indigent Defense Study Advisory Committee

The Indigent Defense Study Advisory Committee (IDSAC), established by Administrative Order No. 2025 188, oversees the progress of a statewide study examining how indigent defense services are delivered across a representative range of counties, including jurisdictions served by public defender offices and contract attorney systems of varying sizes. The study aims to develop a comprehensive understanding of current performance, assess compliance with constitutional requirements and national standards, and identify opportunities for continued improvement. In addition to monitoring the study’s progress, IDSAC is charged with providing support as needed, reviewing findings and recommendations, and presenting the final results to the Arizona Judicial Council upon completion.
