Legal Paraprofessionals

A Legal Paraprofessional (LP) is a professional with specific education and experience who is licensed to provide legal services within a defined scope of practice. This professional is often compared to a nurse practitioner in the medical field.

Legal Document Preparers

The Legal Document Preparer Program certifies legal document preparers in Arizona who provide document preparation assistance and services to individuals and entities not represented by an attorney. Legal document preparers may provide general legal information but may not give legal advice.

Community Justice Workers

Community Justice Workers (CJWs) are nonlawyer legal service providers who assist individuals under the supervision of an attorney within an approved legal services organization. They help clients understand their rights, complete legal documents, and prepare for administrative proceedings—all at no cost to participants.

Legal Advocates

Innovation for Justice (i4J), the Arizona Supreme Court, and Arizona Administrative Office of the Courts have partnered to train, certify and empower non-lawyer legal advocates to provide limited-scope legal advice in two practice areas; Housing Stability and Domestic Violence.
