The required training for mental health experts who wish to be on the apporved court-apointed comptency and restoration service provider list is moving to an online, on-depend format beginning March 2025. This will replace the 3 day in person conference held every other year. This will allow for faster and more streamlined approval of providers for addition to the statewide list. The Center, in conjucntion with the eCourts Division of the Court Services Division of the AOC has launched the Mental Health Repository pursuant to legislative mandate in A.R.S. 36-540(S). The Repository provides stakeholders identified in A.R.S. 36-540(R) access to information on active court orders for treatment to effectuate the 2022 statutory change allowing for shared jurisdiction or transfer of venue for active court orders for treatment. |

"Fractured" Documentary Screening and Discussion: Join Academy for Justice, WFAE, PBS FRONTLINE and Firelight Media for the screening of the “Fractured” documentary. The film examines the plight of North Carolina defendants living with
serious mental illness who are incompetent to stand trial. They can wait in jail for over a year to get the
care they need just so their cases can move forward. A conversation about the issues raised in the
film, and their impact on Arizona, will follow the screening. The Center's Donald Jacobson will be among the paneslists.

Arizona Forensic Science Academy hosts Dr. John Morgan for its Speaker Series event for forensic practitioners from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dr. Morgan's presnetation is titled: Lessons Learned from False or MIsleadingForensic Evidence in Wrongful Convicitons and is based on results of a National Institute for Justice (NIJ) funded research study of 732 wrongful convictions including 1,391 forensic evaluations.
Dr. Morgan will also present at a CLE for lawyers from 3 - 4:30 p.m.
