Right now, Coconino County Juvenile Court Services has 95 open dependency cases in which the state Department of Child Services (DCS) has removed children from households--85% of those cases involve substance abuse. A new program is launching to help parents achieve sobriety, and families to safely reunify.

The Coconino County Board of Supervisors has unanimously approved a receipt of a Department of Justice grant in the amount of $250,000 to create a Family Treatment Court program in the County.

KNAU Arizona Public Radio | DOJ grant to fund family substance abuse treatment program in Coconino County

Coconino County has received a grant from the U.S. Justice Department to establish a family treatment court program. It’s designed to provide substance abuse recovery help for parents who’ve had children removed from their households by the Arizona Department of Child Services.
