HQLR WORKING GROUP
A multidisciplinary group focused on High Quality Legal Representation for children and parents in the child welfare system. This group explores and encourages the use of best practice models that offer attorneys and GALs with resources better advocate for Children and Parents.
ACTION ITEMS
One of the key aspects of the HQLR initiative is to gather feedback directly from the youth and parents who are represented by attorneys or guardians ad litem (GALs) in court. We believe that their voices are crucial in evaluating the effectiveness of legal representation and identifying areas for improvement. To facilitate this feedback process, we have developed a short survey that youth and parents can complete anonymously. The survey goal is to gather insights on various aspects of legal representation, including proficiency with the juvenile rules, adherence to standards and ethical guidelines, and demonstration of important knowledge, skills, and best practices linked to better outcomes for children and families.
