English Written Exam and OPI Preparation Seminar

ONLINE PREPARATION SEMINAR
 for the July/August 2020 session of English Written Exam and OPI

In January 2016, Administrative Order 2016-02 established the Arizona Court Interpreter Credentialing Program (ACICP). The administrative order requires state courts in Arizona to give appointment preference to contract interpreters who are credentialed through ACICP and court staff who provide interpreting services must become credentialed through the program.

ACICP is offering interpreters who are working on earning a foundational Tier 1 ACICP credential an opportunity to prepare for the English Written Exam and Oral Proficiency Interview(OPI) in an all-online preparation seminar!

ABOUT THE SEMINAR: This language-neutral online session focuses on English-language vocabulary development, court-related terminology and sequence review, and exam-related information which is critical to improving the likelihood of passing these exams. The training is led by three experienced and credentialed interpreters:

  • Mr. David Svoboda, Language Access Coordinator for the Arizona Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC);
  • Ms. Sabine Michael, Senior Court Interpreter and Law Librarian for Pinal County Superior Court; and
  • Ms. Judith Costello, Court Interpreter and Interpreter Coordinator for the Coconino County courts.

SEMINAR HIGHLIGHTS:

  1. English Vocabulary Building Exercises and Resources
  2. Court Terminology and Court Sequence Review
  3. Court Interpreter Ethics and Interpreter Code of Conduct Overview
  4. English Written Exam and OPI Exam Overview
  5. Test-Taking/Study Methods

This online seminar is 6 hours total over 3 days in 2-hour blocks at the end of May 2020.

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS: Participants must have already created a profile in the Arizona Court Interpreter Registry and be registered for (or completed) the ACICP online classes. Attendees are encouraged to register below at their earliest opportunity as space is limited and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
