What COJET Requirements take effect January 1, 2014?
For Judicial Officers:
In 2014 the COJET minimum requirement for all Judicial Officers remains 16 COJET hours, including ethics. In addition to Judicial College of Arizona (JCA) trainings, the Wendell site continues to offer online learning tools for judges that are accredited for COJET.
For Court Staff (Non-Judicial Officers):
In 2014 the COJET training requirements established in ACJA section 1-302 remain 16 COJET hours, including ethics and the 2014 designated core curriculum - public service, effective communication and customer service. Training in this category required for all non-judicial officer employees may include subjects that are relevant to verbal, non-verbal or written communication skills, interacting with court customers and providers, and the media, among others.
Non-facilitated Learning Increase:
Administrative Order 2013-110 continues a temporary modification in non-facilitate learning hours through December 31, 2014. It is ordered that the limit of 8 credit hours for non-facilitated learning programs that may be used to meet the annual continuing judicial education requirements described in ACJA § 1-302 be increased to 10 credit hours for calendar year 2014. All other policies, standards, and approval mechanisms described in § 1-302 remain in force.

Movies in Training
The Arizona Supreme Court has purchased and renewed the Motion Picture Licensing Corporation license (MPLC) for calendar year 2014, giving the Arizona Supreme Court and training coordinators permission to show copyrighted films and/or film clips in trainings, provided the movie’s producer and/or distibutor is listed on the following MPLC listing. The license also is expanded in CY 2014 to include permissions to watch movies in ALL Jury Assembly Rooms. When using legally obtained videos in a face-to-face training credits must be included.

To assist you with finding the specific title you wish to show and their corresponding producer, included are instructions on how to search and locate titles on the Internet Movie Database IMDB website at http://www.IMDB.com
· Go to http://www.IMDB.com
· Type film title in search box and press enter.
· Select the title.
· Scroll down to “Company Credits” (located in the middle section of the page) and view the Company Credits (Producers and Distributors).
· Check to see which company distributes the title in the United States (U.S. distributor). If the U.S. distributor is listed on your producer list, the title is covered by your license. If it is not listed within the "produced by" or "distributed by" lists, you will need to contact that producer or distributor directly to obtain the necessary rights to show that title.
· Or, typing in the name of the producer/distributor and IMDB will list all of the titles that company has produced or distributed.
Book Club Program
The JCCE proposes to institute JCCE sponsored book clubs for its members. As with most book clubs, the idea is to have a group of people read a single book, and gather to discuss the implications/plot/meaning/application of the book to our lives and work.
