Thank you for your service as faculty in the Our Courts Arizona program.  This program, an initiative sponsored by the Arizona Supreme Court, capitalizes on a nationally-developed concept that has led to programs already successfully implemented in several other states.

The purpose of this program is to help provide Arizonans with a basic and non-partisan understanding and appreciation of our government structures and functions, particularly our courts, the rule of law, and the vital role the judiciary plays in protecting citizens’ rights.  Lack of accurate information in these areas can lead to misperceptions, disillusionment, disengagement, and decreased public trust and confidence.

Our Courts Arizona utilizes interactive, participatory sessions that engage the audience and provide basic information to adult groups about the importance of fair, impartial and accessible courts and the rule of law.

Below, please find resources that will be useful in your service as an Our Courts Arizona faculty member.  It is recommended that all Our Courts Arizona faculty take time to carefully review all of the information on this page.  The information below is divided into two sections: For Our Courts Arizona Faculty and Session Materials. For Our Courts Arizona Faculty includes several items that will help faculty better understand the Our Courts Arizona program’s purpose, as well as general guidance for giving the program’s presentations.

Additionally, there are two documents that will help us evaluate Our Courts Arizona’s effectiveness and improve the program in the future—the “Session Report” and “Participant Evaluation Form.”  For each Our Courts Arizona session that you teach, please provide the information requested in the “Session Report” and submit that report to the Our Courts Arizona staff.  Further directions are included on that form.  The two-page “Participant Evaluation Form” is intended to be copied and given to every participant in each program, then collected at the end of the presentation.  Those forms or a summary of the feedback should also be submitted to the program’s staff.

Session Materials includes the Power Point slides for each of the five Our Courts Arizona  programs as well as, in some cases, Faculty Notes documents that provide additional information to faculty.  Please note that most of the Power Point slides have “notes” that accompany each slide to provide faculty with subject matter guidance for discussion purposes.
